Quick & Powerful



You know the Word of God is really an amazing thing to meditate on. How is it that the Word can be everything we need? How is that possible? As I studied in Hebrews, I was brought to verse 12 in chapter 4 that says "For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart". As I began to see what the Greek meant on it, I learned that the word quick is the greek word Zao which means to live, to breathe, be among the living, not lifeless, not dead, having vital power in itself. Wow. The Word is literally alive. It's breathing. Jesus said My words are life(John 6:63). So what can the word do if it's alive? well, Jesus used the word to fight Satan. It says here that it's sharper than any two-edged sword. If we could get a revelation on the power that we have through Jesus and His word, we'd be a mighty force for God! Whatever situation comes our way, we can go to the word of God and find what He says about it, and speak that over our situation. You know God created things with words, and He created things to respond to words. He then gave us authority over all things. So, when we speak the word of God over a situation, it's not like we are playing God, but rather it's that we are simply taking the authority back that He originally gave us and using it. In Isaiah 55:11 God says that the word that goes forth from His mouth would not return to Him void, but it would accomplish and prosper in the thing which He sent it for. So what we are doing is speaking God's word and trusting that when we speak it, it can't not do what it's sent to do. Now we can hinder the manifestation of it by doubt and such, but it's impossible for it not to do what it was sent for! It's an amazing thing to know that we have the word of God readily given to us to be used. It's literally like as Ephesians 6:17 says, we take the word of God which is the sword and we fight the enemy with it. It's just as real as holding one physically, actually it's more real. The word of God is our answer for any problem, because Jesus is the Word! We can look to the word for power, authority, love, confirmation, guidance, wisdom, comfort etc. Be encouraged today as you get into the word knowing that as you learn what His word says, you are becoming more equipped to handle any situation that comes your way!
